Welcome to my world,

where each brush stroke and mixed color helps me

interpret the world that surrounds us.

Finding shapes and shadows

Hey there!

A little bit about myself…

There is no time when I feel more at ease than wherever I am holding a paint brush. I can tell when I’ve gone a day or two without painting or drawing…I get fidgety.

Whether I'm teaching, painting, or looking for my next subject, my life is about continuous learning and delight in creating something that wasn’t there before.

I hope you enjoy exploring my gallery and find something that speaks to you.

  • Landscape

These are pieces painted in the studio. There, I have the freedom to paint as large as I want, as long as I want and with all the tools I have at my command. I work from photos I’ve taken along with studies or notes about the area to inform my decision making.

  • Still Life

These paintings are of objects such as flowers, old cameras or ordinary objects that catch my eye. These are painted in a studio setting and are generally on the smaller side. An added bonus to these subjects is that I get to arrange them to pick up the strong light and shadows I love.

  • Plein Air

Plein air painting is an immersive experience with nature. As implied by the French name “plein air” (out in the open), these pieces are created outdoors, embracing the challenges of weather, the changing of light and shadows and limited time. I search for interesting compositions that resonate with me and when I find one I have to work fast. Best job in the world.

ART GALLERY

Over the years, I've created an array of finished paintings that are special to me. In this gallery, I present the most recent ones.

Interested in Learning Oil Painting

In teaching, I draw on inspiration from my own journey, emphasizing the importance of continuous learning and experimentation. Using analogies, I guide students to develop habits and find a balance between attention to detail and simply giving an overall sense of what you want to convey.

There are so many healthy benefits to learning a new thing but generally speaking, adults have an aversion to taking on something they don’t already know how to do. I have a very relaxed style of teaching. And that is partly because that’s the kind of person I am and also to quell fears of learning a new thing.

  • How To Paint More Loosely with Oil by Georgia Nagle

This is a four-week course! From August 6th to August 27th

    Tuesdays 10:00AM- 1:00PM

Throughout my years teaching it's the same refrain “I want to paint looser.” I get it. I work in a more painterly style now but I didn’t always. In this class we’re going to loosen up our oil painting technique. I can teach you to paint like you’re conducting a symphony instead of painting like you’re writing a symphony on the head of a pin. There are many methods to do this and I’ve used them all with success. And I will show you how, too. We’re going to launch right into it. I will do demos and I will help you from day one.
